A VISION AIMED TOWARDS THE FUTURE
The current era, the importance of sustainable viticulture that respects the living material to express all the qualities of the terroir, are all evident aspects to which we wanted to give an answer. Predicting future seasons and adapting to the present are our daily challenges: we had to go even further in the pursuit of excellence in our assemblages, allowing ourselves any audacity and any freedom.
The new balances necessarily condition the evolution of our wines; this opportunity, in terms of typicality and sensations, broadens the field of possibilities. This is how the idea of Collection was born 10 years ago...

AN EXCEPTIONAL 2019 HARVEST
This 244th blend of the Maison Louis Roederer is due to the successes of the 2019 harvest, which broke all temperature records during some scorching heat waves of rare intensity. Arid and continental, with a splendid maturation, it characterizes intense and fresh wines at the same time, with a masterly balance, ready to reveal the powerful and refined character of Collection in the blend.
All the wines from this harvest were rigorously tasted parcel by parcel, then assembled according to a complex subdivision, thus recreating the perfect image of the vintage.

A WINEMAKERS' APPROACH IN THE "HEART OF THE TERROIR"
Faithful to its roots, the Maison is committed to respecting its historical origins: 1/3 "la Rivière" vineyard, 1/3 "la Montagne" vineyard and 1/3 "la Côte" vineyard. All Collection's parcels, those that are part of the Louis Roederer estates and those of long-time partners, have been redefined, to preserve only those most suited to its identity, linked to the heart of the Champagne terroir.

A TAILOR-MADE WINEMAKING
Made up of 54% wines from the 2019 harvest, the Collection 244 cuvée is an ode to taste and hedonism. The Chef de Caves composes a new score each time, taking inspiration from the tone of the year and adding the wines of the Réserve Perpétuelle and the reserve wines aged in wood.
The Réserve Perpétuelle represents a significant percentage of the Collection assembly, its point of balance and freshness; 36% for Collection 244. In parallel with the Réserve Perpétuelle, 10% of wines from previous years and from young parcels of the Cristal domaine, aged in French oak barrels, were added to the blend.
