ONCE UPON A TIME

Just few steps away from the Royal Palace in Turin, the workshop of Antonio Benedetto Carpano was the scene, in 1786, of an invention destined to be remembered in the aromatic liquor wines’ history.

The Piedmontese distiller, capitalising on his herbalist’s studies, mixed a variety of herbs and spices with Moscato wine and the result slowly gained brand awareness by the name of Vermouth, a word derived from the german Wermut identifying in German lands, absinthe wormwood.

After more than 230 year since that invention, Vermouth keeps bringing around the world this ancient distilling tradition of Piedmont, which is linked with one of the most typical aromatic Piedmont grapes.

With its fruity and extremely smooth notes, Moscato gives life, in addition to the famous wine, also to one of the most aromatic Grappas, obtained from its marcs.

Aged in refined wood barrels, Moscato Grappa gets a very gentle tone, even thanks to the patient cure of at least 12 month in oak barriques.

In the encounter of these two historical Piedmont traditions, Moscato Grappa and Vermouth find a perfect matching point by the extended ageing of Moscato Grappa within barrels formerly used to age Turin Vermouth.

Alchemies blend and the variety of scents – that Piedmont express in its grapes and in the rich patrimony of herbs and plants growing in the countryside – leaves an unmistakably pleasant sign.

The result is simply mellow, thank to the perfumes’ bouquet and to an ensamble of aromas able to fully exhalt the smoothness, deepening the olfactive richness of meadows and the round notes of the fruits growing under the sun on these gentle slopes lately reckoned as “World Heritage”.
