In our orchards in Alba, Langhe and Roero, we cultivate plums which, harvested at the right point of ripeness, are processed after a few hours, adding the natural “light” syrup made with water and cane sugar.

The result is a preserved product with the same characteristics of the fresh product with unique organoleptic properties and which enhances the particular flavor of this particular plum variety.

They are excellent to be tasted naturally, simply by opening the jar or to prepare delicious desserts, or on ice cream. The syrup is great to drink!

Varietal characteristics
Plums (Prunus domestica) are the fruits of a tree belonging to the Rosaceae family, subfamily Prunoideae, it is a plant native to Europe.

The tree reaches modest dimensions up to 4/5 meters. In spring it blooms with 1 or 2 flowers per bud with very white flowers. It is a plant that, thanks to late flowering, bears the harshness of winter temperatures very well. The leaves are simple, elliptical, serrated at the margin.

The fruits are oval of purplish color, and covered with a substance called bloom. The core is elongated and pointed.

Productive process
The entire production process is carried out manually according to the ancient peasant tradition of home-made fruit in syrup in jars to be consumed in the winter-spring period, in the absence of the fresh product.

The freshly picked fruit is carefully selected, washed and placed in the jars by hand.
