Millonario "10th Anniversary" is made from molasses from native South American sugarcane. Fermentation occurs using local yeasts, and distillation takes place in a majestic Scottish still dating back to 1938. After the production process, the rum is aged, following the Solera method, in oak barrels that once held sherry, placed inside rooms at sea level. A fresher and lighter rum than the traditional Millonario, perfect for enjoying with ice.
Profile: Sweet notes of vanilla and fruit (banana, apricots, raisins) with a hint of vinous and chocolaty richness.
THE DISTILLERY:
In 1904, the Hacienda Agrícola de Chiclayo was founded in northern Peru. Here, a group of farmers joined together to trade their sugar and built a small refinery. In 1922, the Peruvian landowner Piera de Castillo family, headed by Don Rolando, purchased the hacienda, the refinery, and the vast sugarcane plantation. In 1933, Don Rolando sent his eldest son, Augusto, to study chemical engineering at Cambridge University. In the summer of 1938, a ship bound for Peru set sail from London, carrying the valuable machinery of the sugar roller mill and a Scotch column still for distillation.
In 1950, Ron Millonario was officially born.
