In 2003 Kirk Spahn and Trenton Ilicky, while attending a specialization course at Columbia University, were inspired by the athletes on campus to create a low-calorie alcoholic beverage that did not impact on healthy lifestyles. The two students encouraged by their teacher, gave life to their project in 2004 inspired by the great Asian culture and their production of fermented rice based. For the next 4 years Kirk and Trenton traveled continuously from the States to Asian countries to learn all the culture and production methods, elements that soon became the solid foundation of their success. TY-KU is a leading company in the production and distribution of sake, currently offering one of the best Japanese beverages on the market.
