A wine produced from vineyards at 300 m asl and of varying expositions, where the soil is characterized by tufaceous clays and calcareous marl, alluvial pebble and conglomerate, ferrous and calcareous clays. Some of the grapes come from old vineyards. Vinification in stainless steel vats for 25 to 30 days with maceration at 27°C to 30°C. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Ages for 18 months in vats, barrique and tonneaux, 50 % new and 50 % in second and third passage. Bottle refinement 12 months minimum.

Tasting Notes

The not very hot summer and the temperature range of the beginning of September led to a long period of veraison, which began later than usual. From mid-August interventions of peeling and thinning of the bunches have accelerated the ripening of the grapes, bringing in the historical canons of the second week of September for the harvests dedicated to the ColleMassari Riserva. Pleasant impact on the nose, above all fresh and vinous notes of cherry and berries accompanied by sweet spices. The taste is soft and inviting; the tannins are enveloping and play in balance with the freshness of acidity.

Foods Parings

Goes well with roast and braised red meats, game and aged cheese.
