Tanqueray Lovage is a variant infused with a herbaceous plant, lovage (or mountain celery), called “lovage” in English. The gin takes inspiration from a historic recipe by Charles Tanqueray, founder of the brand, dating back to 1832 and was developed in collaboration with the famous bartender Jason Crowley. With an alcohol content of 47.3% vol., It is described as “very herbaceous, with slightly earthy notes of celery, while maintaining the juniper and citrusy style”.
It seems that Tanqueray Lovage is the first gin ever made to have lovage among botanicals and this was a real challenge for the master distiller, in fact Crowley explained: “We had to work much harder on the distillation process because at the beginning the gin was not good.
