It was at the beginning of the XIX century that Gennaro Nurzia eft Arischia, a pictoresque village in the neighbourhood of l'Aquila where tradition still has an ancient savour. His skilled craftmanship in distilling liquors and his enterprising attitude brought him to widen his activity with the production of sweets. Later on it was Ulisse Nurzia, Gennaro's grandson, to give a new strenght to their manufacturing activity, working with an unceasing desire to create new flavours and tastes. While experiencing new recipes, he made a real revolution in the nougat field because at that time the white nougat, the so-called "Cremona" type, was very well known and appreciated as to flavour and friability, even though quite hard. Ulisse enhanced the quality of the product adding the chocolate - at that time a precious element - to the usual ingredients of the nougat - honey, almonds or hazelnuts and albumen - and obtained at last a soft nougat candy to his experiencing a particular cooking technique. In that moment the "soft nougat candy" made by Nurzia was born. Since than we never stopped. Starting from the original recipe of the "soft nougat candy with chocolate" we have been able to manufacture, with tha same passion of Ulisse, a large range of delicious and genuine products to deserve the preference of the old and new customers.
