The wine
The owner's reserve. A wine wanted by Giovanni Folonari to represent his idea of Gran Selezione. Only Sangiovese grapes from Tenuta di Nozzole and the return to tradition through the use of large seasoned wood, a typical Tuscan refinement method. Numbered bottles in limited production.
The 2016 vintage presents itself in the glass as a ruby red tending towards purple; on the nose hints of ripe cherry, peach, licorice and dried redcurrant as well as nuances of nutmeg and even ethereals such as wax, incense and dust. On the palate the wine is elegantly powerful and solemn, body and depth, silky tannins and a spicy finish. Pleasantly bitter with cinchona, it has oenological excellence in its harmony.
