La Sambuca is a liqueur derived from a mixture of elements including the elderberry (from which it takes its name) and anise (the company uses both green and starry varieties), with the addition sometimes of other herbs. The origin of the sambuca is commonly attributed to the Carthusian monks and perhaps initially had a medical purpose. In Italy it was extremely widespread, especially during the nineteenth century.

Pallini Romana Sambuca is produced through the distillation of green anise and star anise, which contributes to give this liqueur an unmistakable taste and an intense aroma.

After the addition of the elder extract, the distillate undergoes maceration and then is sweetened.

Today the sambuca can be used for various recipes and many preparations, drunk smooth or as a correction to other drinks, including coffee.

The aroma of anise, so intense and immediately perceptible also to the nose, is precisely what makes this liqueur recognizable and appreciated by critics and consumers all over the world.
