"With the same elegance as the quartz inserts that make the Terlano volcanic porphyry shine, our Sauvignon Blanc selection lives up to its name. Among its distinctive features are its refined structure, depth, and salty finish, which enhance this noble white wine, now internationally renowned."

Vintage
2024 appears to have been a particularly challenging/complicated year for viticulture, but also a very interesting one. The extremely rainy spring, with wetter-than-usual weather, undoubtedly created initial challenges for the plants, significantly impacting flowering and final yield, as evidenced by a 15% to 40% drop in production. The most susceptible varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Bianco, and Lagrein, suffered the most.
However, the fact that, despite the challenging conditions, the best-exposed vineyards produced higher-quality results demonstrates the crucial importance of vineyard management skills in challenging years. In particular, the cooler temperatures in September and the slower ripening process challenged the late-ripening varieties, but experienced winemakers still managed to make the most of the adverse conditions.
The aging potential of these wines is very promising, a sign that, even in challenging years, experience and knowledge of the terroir can make a difference. It will be interesting to see how these wines develop over time. From a qualitative standpoint, the white wines and the Pinot Noir variety stand out in particular.
Soil
Quartz porphyry, of volcanic origin, is the predominant rock formation.
The light, lean, sandy, and clayey soils result in naturally low yields.
The subsoil is composed of 55-60% quartz rock, with a slightly acidic pH.
Terlano wines, savory and full of character, excite experts with their longevity.
The soil, rich in skeleton and sandy clay, has a high quartz content. However, it lacks calcium carbonate, resulting in slightly acidic pH values. Under these conditions, the soil is much better drained, has limited nutrient availability, and therefore favors more balanced vine vigor, with naturally lower yields. The Terlano terroir is also distinguished by its unusual soil characteristics, which force the vines to respond to these stressful conditions, producing the specific polyphenols that make Terlano wine unmistakable. This is why these grapes yield wines with distinct flavor, tension, and depth. And the unique blend of crystals and minerals in the subsoil gives rise to white wines whose extraordinary longevity continues to excite connoisseurs around the world.
