Extra aging has calmed the phenolic impact of the pea making it a whiskey more balanced than the 12 years old, but the Caol Ila 18 Years Old remains an authentic Islay single malt with the typical torbedo and marine notes.
The nose is complex and aromatic with smoky notes of bonfires, grass and honey with hints of wax and malt. On the palate it is medium body and harmonious with good acidity with sweet notes followed by notes of sea salt and wood with hints of almond and vanilla. The finish is medium long and persistent with sweet smoky notes, grass and light turmeric tips.
