THE GLENLIVET - The story
Distillery founded by George Smith in the valley of the Livet River, the heart of Speyside, in the early 1800s.
It is said that King George V, on the occasion of his official visit to Scotland in 1822, specifically asked for a taste of his already well-known whiskey, albeit still illegal at the time.
Thanks to royal passion, Smith was able to obtain the license to produce whiskey in 1824, and The Glenlivet became the first official whiskey in Scottish history, the only one that can boast the right to be named after the place where it was born. .
