Discover how Bollinger R.D. 2007 looks back to its roots. A truly authentic vintage for a legendary cuvée.

A great idea for a great tasting experience

In the 1960s, while unusually shaped bottles of champagne were developed, the Bollinger House decided to stand out by its signature taste. Although old vintages were not fashionable at that period, Madame Bollinger offered a completely original tasting experience – she decided to launch an old vintage, recently disgorged and dosed as an Extra Brut. She thus claims her vision – absolute prestige of the Bollinger House lies within the wine itself, the taste and the expertise.

In 1967, the 1952 vintage is released, the first which will bear the name of the cuvée for the very first time, Bollinger R.D. (Recently Disgorged). Its label is the first one in history to specify a disgorgement date.

It is a revolution that will have a lasting impact on the Bollinger style. A unique wine, a vintage aged for a long time on lees, that is afterwards disgorged by hand. This precise moment creates an aromatic explosion of the aged wine. The result is powerful, rare, and precious – the contrast between a wonderful freshness on the palate, underscored by the Extra Brut dosage, and the aromatic intensity of the finest vintages. A truly great idea that gives rise today to Bollinger. R.D. 2007.

Bollinger R.D. 2007 - a tribute to its origins

The 2007 vintage goes back to the roots of R.D. and to its historical label. The label has been redesigned in its original material and with the lettering in the mythical 1952 font. The disgorgement date appears once again.

Bollinger R.D. – mastery of time and rarity

The harmony of different temporalities makes R.D. an exceptional champagne, that perpetuates the House expertise. Time for patience and for waiting as long as it takes, for the time to develop its aromas on contact with its lees. Time for one moment – the disgorgement – its perfect mastery is the key to the R.D. cuvée.

Finally, rarity is required for an unrivalled quality. Rarity of the selected vintages - few reach the desired standard for R.D. Rarity of volume – for each vintage, there is a limited number of bottles, each one riddle and disgorged by hand. Each of these vintages is a unique expression of the R.D. cuvée.

The Bollinger R.D. Experience

Vibrance characterises the new R.D. vintage. The 2007 harvest, one of the earliest for a century in Champagne produced grapes of an exceptional quality. The contrast between the intensity of the spicy aromas, the notes of fruit, brioche and honey, and the wine’s freshness makes for a rare tasting experience of this vibrant cuvée.

Tasting notes

To the eye: Intense shimmers of gold.

To the nose: Complex on the nose with aromas of honey and brioche. This is followed by a host of spices (ginger, cumin, caraway and more), before evolving into notes of Mirabelle plum, dried apricot and fresh hazelnut.

On the palate: A lively and clean opening that reveals notes of white plum, walnut and aniseed. Its freshness is beautiful and its tension incredible.
