1 JAR X 700g

Description

They are rigorously harvested by hand several times a season to respect natural ripeness and to allow us to have a ripe product at the right point. In this way we have a naturally sweet and excellent quality raw material that we process a few hours after harvesting, adding the natural "light" syrup made with water and cane sugar.

The result is a preserved product with the same characteristics of the fresh product with unique organoleptic properties and which enhances the particular flavor of cherries, a typically spring fruit but which is excellent preserved to be consumed in the winter season, when there is not much fresh fruit. season.

It is a classic and evergreen canned fruit, which reminds us of the one prepared for us by our grandmothers.

They are excellent to be tasted naturally, simply by opening the jar, or to prepare delicious desserts, or on ice cream.

The syrup is excellent to drink on its own but is enhanced in the preparation of refined cocktails!

Varietal characteristics
The cherry tree (Prunus avium) also called bird cherry or wild cherry is a tree belonging to the Rosaceae family, native to Europe (from the British Isles [1] to Russia) and the Middle East.

Already known in ancient times, it was cataloged by Pliny the Elder who distinguished the cherry tree in two types in ase with a sour or sweet flavor.

It is a deciduous tree that can reach 32 m in height, and can have a trunk of 1.5 m in diameter!

The cherry tree lives about 100 years.

The bark is smooth purple-brown with prominent horizontal gray-brown lenticels in young trees, which become thicker darker and fissured in older trees.

The leaves are alternate, simple acute ovoid, 7–14 cm long and 4–7 cm broad, hairless with a pale or bright green in the upper part.

The white pedunculated flowers are arranged in corymbs of two to six together, each flower hanging on a 2-5 cm peduncle, 2.5-3.5 cm in diameter, with five white petals, yellow stamens, and an ovary I exceed; the flowers are hermaphrodites and are pollinated by bees. Flowering takes place in early spring simultaneously with the production of new leaves.

The fruit is a fleshy drupe (cherry) 1–2 cm in diameter (wider in some cultivated selections), bright red to dark purple when ripe in mid-summer. The edible fruit has a sweet to fairly astringent and bitter taste and contains a single stone.

The fruits are eaten by numerous birds and mammals, it is one of the first fruits of the season and for this they are crazy about it!

... who as a child did not climb a cherry tree and ate the cherries directly on the tree?

Productive process
The entire production process is carried out manually according to the ancient peasant tradition of home-made fruit in syrup in jars to be consumed in the winter-spring period, in the absence of the fresh product.

The freshly picked fruit is carefully selected, washed and placed in the jars by hand.
