A splendid symbol, perhaps the emblem, but undoubtedly an icon of Guatemala: Ron Zacapa Gran Solera is an absolute masterpiece among aged rums, one of the finest in the world. It is made from a blend of young rums and rums aged between 6 and 23 years, and is refined using a new aging system: dynamic Solera.

A system, invented in Spain over five centuries ago, involves the use of charred oak barrels that previously held bourbon, sherry, or port, giving the spirit a smooth and complex aroma with hints of ripe fruit and spicy notes of nutmeg, cocoa, and licorice. Its distinctive, slightly sugary aftertaste of virgin honey is instantly recognizable.

A deep, penetrating amber color. A nose intoxicated by hints of exotic fruit and dried fruit. Finally, a full, smooth, and pleasantly velvety sip. But it is perhaps the aging process (along with the climate and terroir) that gives this rum the unmistakable character that makes it unique.

The altitude at which the House Above the Clouds is located (2,333 meters above sea level) allows for a slow and patient exchange between wood and distillate, until it achieves a harmonious, pleasant, and balanced flavor.

Excellent after dinner, Zacapa Gran Solera fully expresses its personality when paired with a good cigar and dark chocolate.
