Planteray rums are a true invitation to travel. From Jamaica to Barbados, via Panama, Trinidad, Guyana, and all the way to the Fiji Islands. Each rum possesses distinctive local flavors that faithfully reflect the identity of each territory. Every country that distills rum has its own terroir, with its own traditions, production techniques, and identity. Alexandre Gabriel, Planteray's master blender, selects only the finest batches from every Caribbean distillery, respecting the unique identity of each terroir. All rums undergo double aging: in the Caribbean, so that the high temperatures enhance the rustic and exotic flavors of their country of origin, and in Cognac, perfecting the refinement thanks to the profound expertise and knowledge of Maison Ferrand. All Planteray rums are authentic spirits that express the personality of the land that nurtured them. It's a fascinating diversity, with fermentation times, distillation methods, and years of aging always unique and clearly stated on the label. Maison Ferrand, producing cognac, had always maintained business relationships with the most important distilleries in the Caribbean, to whom it sold the barrels used to age its cognacs. Thus was born the idea of marketing these extraordinary rums in the Planteray collection, extraordinary expressions of the countries of origin where they were produced. Today, Alexandre Gabriel also owns the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and two distilleries in Jamaica: Long Pond and Clarendon.
