Founded in the early 1980s, Le Macchiole is one of Bolgheri's historic wineries, having become an undisputed benchmark for quality Tuscan wine. The project was brought to life by Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli, two of the area's pioneers, who embraced a unique vision of a terroir still in its early stages of defining its style. It was their work, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, creating wines that have become iconic for their caliber and personality, that contributed to Bolgheri's fame. Today, Cinzia leads the winery, with the decisive support of her sons Elia and Mattia, now key players in the enterprise, as well as an increasingly close-knit and collaborative team. This extended family continues to innovate, surprising and being surprised, in keeping with its history. Changing while remaining true to itself, Le Macchiole displays a constantly evolving identity thanks to a contemporary interpretation of wine and its terroir.
