"Piccolo Derthona" is the accessible sibling of Walter Massa's great Timorasso—a more drinkable and immediate version of this nearly extinct native Piedmontese grape, capable of expressing the character of Timorasso without the imposing structure and longevity of the flagship Derthona. An excellent entry point into the world of Timorasso.

Vinification and Aging

Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel using only the must, followed by bottle aging for 6 months before release. No barriques, no prolonged maceration, no ideological filtration.

Tasting

It presents a beautiful, bright straw yellow, crystalline and lively, with slightly greenish highlights that indicate its youthful freshness. The nose is intense yet subtle, with aromas of fresh citrus (lime, citron), green apple, and white wildflowers. Hints of sage, thyme, and a mineral undertone of chalk and wet stone also emerge, hinting at the typical characteristics of Timorasso. On the palate, it's fresh, agile, and savory, with a pleasant acidity that supports a smooth yet never boring sip. It has a medium body, great balance, and a dry, slightly saline finish, with citrus and floral aftertaste.
