Originally this wine was known by the name of "Brunello White Label" and was renamed Rosso di Montalcino in 1983 when the DOC was established.
Faithful to the style that characterizes all Biondi-Santi wines, the Rosso is distinguished by its fragrant and fruity soul, which makes it perfect to be enjoyed even at a young age.

THE 2020 VINTAGE
In 2020, a mild and dry winter, characterized by above-average temperatures, was followed by a cool spring punctuated by strong temperature variations between day and night and by a completely exceptional snowfall on 26 March which, fortunately, did not it caused a lot of damage to our vineyards as the budding of the plants had been late. The month of June was quite rainy, allowing the soil to accumulate good water reserves. In the months of July and August the days became hot and dry while maintaining an excellent temperature range between day and night, which supported the natural balance of the vines and helped to develop a good aromatic profile of the grapes. Restorative rains were recorded at the end of August, just before the harvest which began on 9th September.

THE ORIGIN
The grapes used for the Rosso di Montalcino 2019 were selected from the following estate vineyards: Tenuta Greppo, located southeast of Montalcino, Ribusuoli, located just below Tenuta Greppo and Pievecchia, located north of the municipality of Montalcino.
REFINEMENT
The Rosso di Montalcino 2019 was aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
EMOTION
With its enchanting combination of flowers and red berried fruits, Rosso di Montalcino 2019 gives us fresh and energetic notes of cherry, blood orange, pomegranate, violet and honeysuckle, followed by balsamic hints of aromatic herbs, licorice root and menthol. The olfactory and gustatory sensations are perfectly aligned. On the palate, the crunchy tannins and lively acidity give both lightness and substance to the fruity heart of this Red, guiding us towards a savory and persistent finish, punctuated by mineral notes. The longer the wine is left to oxygenate in the glass, the more the complexity and depth of this wonderful vintage is revealed.
