WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Flor de Caña Extra Seco is a rum free of sugar, caramel, artificial ingredients and accelerators. For its aging, premium 135 liter ex-bourbon barrels sealed with dried local plane tree leaves are used. The annual angel share is 6%. The years of permanence of the distillate in contact with the premium wood of ex bourbon allow it to develop an interesting aromatic profile for classic and modern mixing. The lowering of the alcohol content to 37.5° was useful for smoothing out and balancing the sharp edges given by the barrel itself.

Our story with Flor de Caña was born from a reaction to bad behavior. In fact, a small Italian importer had the habit of speaking very badly about Velier to our suppliers. After asking twice for it to stop, on the third time, I couldn't see it anymore. Among his products was Flor de Caña, and so I convinced the company to join us. La Flor de Caña owns the sugar cane from which it produces molasses, distills and ages locally and has a very large stock. It is owned by the Pellas family, descendants of the Pellas of Genoa. Among mainstream rums, Flor de Caña is 5 stars for authenticity and can compete with the best-known international brands.

OVERVIEW
HISTORY
Originally from Genoa, the Pellas family moved to Nicaragua way back in 1890, where they began their enormous sugar cane cultivation. In 1937, within the same estate, they founded their independent distillery, at the time called Compañia Licorera de Nicaragua, which later took the name of Flor de Caña. In 1959, Flor de Caña Slow Aged Rum arrived in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Venezuela. From the 1960s to the 1990s the distillery was equipped with the most modern technologies in the sector and its rums also reached Central American countries. Currently, the fifth generation of the Pellas family manages the company, with total control of every production step, for every single phase, from the cultivation of the raw material to the final marketing. Today Rum Flor de Caña is known throughout the world as a product of absolute excellence.

PRODUCTION METHOD
The rums are all produced without added sugar, caramel, artificial ingredients and accelerators. Distilled with a continuous multi-column method, according to Spanish tradition, up to 5 times with 100% renewable energy. All stages of the manufacturing process have been supervised by the same family since 1890. This is called "5 Star Authenticity". The aging takes place rigorously in a tropical climate, more precisely at the base of the San Cristobal volcano in "Almacen" at around 26°/28°C, controlled non-mechanically, but thanks to the internal lining of the roof with a heat-insulating material and the external trees , which provide shade to the bodegas.
