Born from the simplicity

and authenticity

of ancient peasant

knowledge.

Costadilà – now based in San Lorenzo, in the hills of Vittorio Veneto – takes its name from the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Tarzo. Here, among the hilly areas renowned for producing Prosecco DOCG, Ernesto Cattel decided in 2005 to embark on his career as a farmer-winemaker, or, as he liked to call himself, an artisanal grower. He became a pioneer of authentic, artisanal winemaking that believes in the potential of the native Glera, Bianchetta Trevigiana, and Verdiso grapes from the Alto Trevigiano hills. Talking about Costadilà is like talking about Ernesto Cattel, and vice versa, because Costadilà was and still is his creation, the embodiment of his philosophy and vision.

A vision of transparency, like the deliberately transparent bottles that don't hide their indigenous yeasts and the cloudy amber color that changes from bottle to bottle, a vision that seeks to revive the ancient values of closed-loop farming, where not only vineyards existed but also fruit and vegetable crops, along with farmyard and large-scale livestock such as sheep and pigs.

All in a natural manner, with minimal human intervention, leaving the creatures that populated its universe almost wild. This is how the logo was born first.

The wine we were most proud of of all the crus produced was the first Arancione col fondo to appear on the national wine scene, the 280s.l.m. made from Prosecco Tondo and Boschera grapes...

A great joy for Ernesto! ” Mauro Lorenzon
